Description
Based in Britain's smallest city - atmospheric St Davids - within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, this holiday is packed with opportunities to enjoy the magnificent seascapes and magical islands off the coast. St Davids is dominated by its historic cathedral and the mediaeval ruins of the Bishop's Palace, and there is plenty of time to explore these attractions.
The spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline is famed for its beauty and abundant wildlife. The offshore islands are of international importance for their seabird and seal populations, while in season the surrounding waters are home to huge schools of common dolphin (often more than a hundred strong!). You may also encounter bottlenose dolphin, harbour porpoise, minke whale and, if very lucky, orca!
Most boat trips start just ten minutes away from St Davids, and use a powerful jet boat which can get further out to sea and so maximises the possibility of seeing cetaceans. An hour's drive takes you around St. Brides Bay to Martins Haven for the short crossing to Skomer Island to see its endearing puffins, while a full day trip to Ramsey Island RSPB Reserve includes a round island boat trip to see its grey seals. And all this in Wales, UK!
